I transplanted two tomato plants (hope they make it) and found that broccoli and carrots can be planted late in the summer. My point is that I must be getting older because 10 years ago you never would've heard the words garden box or days to harvest coming out of my mouth.

Getting Older
Early in the summer I decided that I wanted a garden box in my backyard. I dropped several hints to Nathan and he made several attempts to ignore me. Well, he must have really been missing me when we were in Indiana because when I returned home he had built me one! I was really excited to paint it and get everything going.

To make matters even worse, I also enjoy sitting in my rocking chair and watching the sprinkler water these darn plants. It gets a little more entertaining when Mackenzie is out there running around and digging for "bones" in what she thinks is just a big pile of dirt. (Who knows, she may be right.)
I don't have any grey hair yet, but I'm sure that's soon to follow with this upcoming deployment. At least I have two lively girls to keep me young, right?
This picture has nothing to do with the post, but I can't have pictures of one daughter and not the other. Mackenzie walked around in her underwear more than she did her bathing suit when we were at the lake.

i'm so glad you got the box filled already! how exciting! i'm horrible with plants. i can't commit to them! luckily Tim can so we have yummy treats to eat in the summer. Piper is getting so big and I feel like I just saw her! sigh! that last pic of mac is too cute! and why wouldn't she love to run around in those big girl undies! i would if i could but i think my neighbors might not be too impressed! miss ya and love ya! and we are getting so old! i just set up a sewing area in the basement! ha! haven't had time to use it yet, of course, but i'll get there!
Ok... so what does it say about me that I have a sewing station and a garden?! I must be ancient!!
Your garden looks great! This is our third summer for our garden and there is nothing better than homegrown tomatoes!!! Your girls are ADORABLE and i love reading your posts. They make me smile. And miss you. But at least I am smiling while I miss you. love, jac
Okay, I can't say I will ever sew but that's just because I don't have the patience for it. I do love our garden, however, and also enjoy a rousing game of Scrabble or Rummy 500 on our ipod very frequently. Does that make me old? I also enjoy grocery shopping on a Friday night, going to bed at 8pm (which never actually happens), and have gray hairs. So we are all old!
Love the garden box and the pictures of the girls. Piper looks so much like Mac it's crazy! Can't wait to see them again, when will you be in the fort? I still want to plan a trip to visit you with Owen while Nathan is gone too. Who wants to join me??
I would so LOVE to go visit Kel with you Jill!
